burning sulfur in greenhouse

If you burn sulfur in your greenhouse would it help control powdery mildew? It is a major problem with my hydrangeas and roses. The plants are all in containers and easy to move.

When I worked in the hydroponic industry it was a popular method to attempt fungal control for 'indoor' growing situations. I have never tried it myself so I can't give first hand information.
