Lines of Akebono in front of buildings along Lougheed Hwy between Beta & Delta, apartment tower has Kanzan
I counted only eight Pink Perfection cherry trees today at the small park and north Condo yard across from the Tennis Courts on Patterson, north of Mayberry. Interesting flowers and buds. A few of the trees have been strangely pruned.
Well it's a few years later and the nine Tibetan Birch Bark Cherry trees are still standing. And they are in "full bloom" now.
The 17 trees are all grown up now, but I am not sure what to call them. I saw a lot of Pink Perfection trees today Downtown at 1500 Howe and in Burnaby on Patterson north of Mayberry. These 17 trees at SFU are not showing green leaves and the flowers don't look like Pink Perfection to me. Except for those few whitish flowers, I would guess they are Kanzan. The Shirofugen grove is not really blooming yet, but give it a week - it will be stunning. I could not find the 3 Pink Perfection trees in any corner next to the Shirofugen grove.

This 'Snofozam' has been posted before (see post #63), located (just a few blocks away from the one on Southlawn post #197) on EastCourt and Eastlawn, but it is not thriving as well as its neighbour.
These aren't exactly worth a special trip, but my route last night took me near here, and I wanted to check out some plums that were added to the festival map. On the way back to my route, this lovely 'Accolade' at 5209 Schou caught my eye. The nighttime light doesn't do it much justice. Farther down the block toward the cul-de-sac is an 'Akebono'.
