I would like to know the root system of the above and would appreciate any help I can get. Apparently I have planted this bush too close to the home and have been told it may strangle pipes underground.

Buddleia davidii tends to have a shallow fibrous root system with a few larger, brittle, woody roots in my experience, I would say it is hard to figure out how they would "strangle" pipes. Generally speaking plants roots don't hurt any pipes or sewers or hydro lines unless the lines are already fractured or cracked, the roots may penetrate or aggravate a crack or fissure but I don't know that they would create one.
