sprouting now everywhere, after a heavy rain, Central-Arkansas in shaded hardwood area on the ground, clay, with leaf litter the ones in picture: with stem about 2 inch in height stem itself about one inch or less color: brown to lighbrown gills are light brown hat at the rim is kind of slimy Does anyone recognize this mushroom?
Any chance of getting a spore print? This is a really wild stab in the dark, but it does look a bit like some Cortinarius I've seen recently, in the slimy cap group. If the spore colour is rusty, then it might possibly be in that group? Colour stains on the gills are sometimes indicators of spore colour, but sometimes not. frog
It does resemble the R.compacta...as well as several Trichelomas.... A spore print would really help if you can get one? Did you notice the scent? Was it significant at all?
I have to check if there are still any out there, then make a spore print. I check back with all you. Thanks for your interest.
i tried to get a spore print but had to throw the mushroom out when some white larva were eating on it
