I have a question about my bromeliad. It has a baby plant about one-third of the mother plants size. Is this big enough to transplant? Is there any way that I should remove it and not damage it?

Try cutting it off and potting it up. If a tank type, as most are it can be kept turgid by frequently pouring clean water over the center of the rosette and keeping the tanks near the leaf bases filled. The roots of epiphytic bromeliads serve mostly to grip their perches anyway, the tanks being the parts where moisture and nutrition are obtained.

These vessels are also important to frogs, mosquitoes and other small jungle life that is unlikely to make it in larger bodies of water.
