Brahea armata

    Dispite the cool 45f - 50f temps (7c -10c) my Brahea armata is unfolding a new leaf. Maybe I'll get 6 new leaves this year instead of 4 or 5.

    Your Brahea is a beauty, Barrie. Did you start her from seed? How old is she now? The one I got from you did very well this winter. Mine looks to be pushing a new leaf, too.

    palmera ... no, this was purchased as a 15 gallon specimen about 3 years ago. I brought several in and decided to give one a try for myself. It stands close to shoulder hieght and I do like the silver look of the leaves. They apparently look stunning when lit from below at night using garden flood lighting.

    So, I guess that means mine has a ways to go! Good thing I'm as young as I am. Tropicals are definately not an old person's game...
