Hello, I'm very new to the gardening scene. I have about 10 acres out back and I'm thinking about growing grapes. I live in Iowa. I was woundering if there was a book - short and to the point that could help me in deciding if this is the way to go. If any of you have any other suggestions I am willing to listen. Thank you newgreenthumb
I like "The Grape Grower, A Guide to Organic Viticulture" by Lon Rombough. Even if you are not wishing to "go organic" it's full of other interesting stuff and advice. available at the author's website: http://www.bunchgrapes.com/publications.html and probably the usual other book sources. There's also the ISU Viticulture program; they have a large booklist. They would also be a good place to go for info and advice specific to your area. Ralph
Ralph, Thanks for the info. I ordered "The Grape Grower, A guide to Organic Viticlture" Tonight. I will post how the reading is going. My wife as well as many of my relatives are ISU grads I'm supprised I didn't think of that. Thanks again Lonnie
A great book for growing grapes is Northern Wineworks www.northernwinework.com I would recommend this as well as Lon Rombough's I have both and I use them all the time. Cheers Kim
Kim, Thanks for that information. I checked out the websit, it looks like a book I could use. Thanks again Lonnie
