Hi there, my first post on this forum so hello everyone. I need a little help if anyone would oblige. I bought this bonsai today (from Ikea which I thought was strange). Can anyone identify which type of tree this is? Would anyone be able to give me a good idea of how much/often to water it and any other tips such as what kind of fertiliser to use and so on. I have included a close up photo of the leaves in case that would help identify it. Thanks for your help. Richard

Thanks for the help. Any recommendations as to how to take care of the tree? What kind of fertiliser should I use on it and how/when should I apply the fertiliser? Should I keep the tree by a window or should I keep it out of direct sunlight? Any tips on how to take care of it would be appreciated.
That id is what I thought too:) Here's a some basic infor that might help... http://www.bonsaisite.com/chineseelm.html
Bonsai are just normal trees, kept abnormally tiny by repeated pruning of the twigs and roots. In Britain I would advise that you keep it outdoors. They are not house plants. Bring it in only during really cold spells. There are some really good groups that you can join, that will be able to give you hands on advise on all you need to know, including how to get bare bark, twisted trunks etc etc. It can become a real hobby! http://images.google.com/images?q=b...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi http://www.bonsai.co.uk/care.htm http://images.google.com/images?q=b...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
