A landscaper planted several blue spruces of apprx. 5' height in heavy clay soil, in a low lying area which collects water - and the root balls are either sunk deep or half sitting above the soil. They are planted approx. 3' from each other in a group of 7 trees. The property owner spent $4000 on this! The trees are not happy. Can anyone recommend a soil fix? Or do we have to remove them all and relocate? Thanks!

Call the landscaper to come and fix it. Does the owner have a written contract?

They are also planted too close together, unless a dense hedge was wanted to develop within several years and it wasn't cared that the trees will become sticks eventually due to the crowding.

The "landscaper" is no where to be found now. They will have to fix the problem themselves as there is no $$ to hire another landscaper who is qualified,.
