I currently have 3 spruce trees side by side along my fence in my backyard these trees range from about 25 feet tall to about 40 feet tall and are spaced about 8-10 feet apart,
the base of these trees are approx 12 feet in diameter and seem to be taking over too much space in my yard the branches fall right to the ground, do you have any suggestions in regards to what can be done to eleviate the problem.?
If I need to trim from the bottom up please let me know the best way to do this without it looking terrible and how high up you think I should trim them.

    Thanks

If you are looking to strip up the stems then start thinking about cutting down the trees. Firstly they will look awful, secondly removing the lower limbs will cause decline in the trees as the soil below warms more etc. If they are taking over TOO much space then they are the wrong tree for the location.

Healthy (conifers) trees require branches to the bottom to do best in a landscape setting.

    I second the above remarks.
