   I notice birch trees in West Point Grey with dead upper branches. Some have the whole top dead. Can anyone supply information about this phenomenon?

   possibly drought stress response or BBB (bronze birch borer). look at the site conditions and look for D shaped exit holes on the upper trunk area.
