Newbie here--getting some maple books. Everyone suggest the Vertrees Maple book, 3rd edition. What about Gelderens' "Maples for Gardens"--any feedback on that one? Looking for content not just on various varieties of maples, but also pruning, care etc.

    Thanks!

On Amazon.com , you can search inside a book and read a few pages.

I have the Vertrees and there is about 30 pages about maples care then 300 pages with pictures and descriptions of cultivars.

I have ordered "Maples of the world" and let you know which one I prefer very soon.

Maples of the World is mostly a botanical reference, Maples for Gardens being the horticultural companion volume.

Maples of the World won't give you much info on pruning, care etc
    Vertrees is better for that
