Identification: Berry Identification

    While hiking up seymour river, we came across some berries near a marshy area with a pond. The ripe berries are red and translucent, while the unripe berries are white with fine red speckles - almost egg-like. The berries are about the size of a red huckleberry.
    The plants appear mostly to just be a single thin stalk, and only a few had leaves which appeared to be rotting. They were yellowish and transparent.

    Maianthemum bifolium I believe.

    In western British Columbia, it is more likely the native Maianthemum dilatatum, as the other species suggested is European.
