A coworker brought in some beetles today that have been devouring her plants (Victoria area). She’s never seen them before, but has talked to another lady in Metchosin that also has them this year. That woman contacted the Min. of Ag., who were unfamiliar with it. The beetle is about 5mm long, and the wings are distinctly pink-red, so it’s very noticeable when flying. Coworker says they are very prolific, mating constantly, and almost as soon as she clears them from a plant, more return. They appeared as soon as the weather warmed up. Any ideas anyone?

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I was waiting to get a few beetles so I could get better pictures. Finally did yesterday, posted on Facebook, and very quickly was told they are Coreopsis beetles. They are native, thankfully! I’ll put more pictures up for future reference.
