bark mulching an exposed root area

    I have several wisteria branches coming out of the ground along a fence that I want to use as a sitting area. Can I spread the mulch over the area without harming the vines? I will be careful of the branches when using the area. Thank you!

    Don't let it get near the house. It will sent shoots/roots into the wood and slowly tear it apart!
