Moved to a new place a few years ago with an enormous, two story, mature ornamental cherry tree.

I've come to be suspicious that maybe there is something wrong with it, because it seems very "leggy" with a great deal of bare branches and seemingly dead twigs and with much of the blossoms and growth very much near the far tips of the tree.

I dunno is there anything wrong here or is this normal?

In contrast walking around Yaletown today I took some photos of trees that seem to have much more full and even growth. Zooming in on these images you can see that even in the bare spots you can see new buds. There are no new buds on my tree. Just bare branches.

Is there something wrong with my tree? Anything I should be doing to keep it healthy?

'Somei-yoshino'. Sold as 'Yoshino' in North America. Looks fine except where being headed back to keep it away from the building and wires.
