I started my avocado bulb in a glass of water. I had it in there for quite a while before it was about 10 inches tall and producing leaves. I noticed it starting to lose color and the tips of the leaves turning brown... So I planted it in some indoor/outdoor potting soil. The plant has gotten worse since. I did some reading and learned that these roots need a well drained soil. I just transplanted it into some better soil today. Some leaves have fallen off.. I've noticed some new growth at the very top but it was short lived. Since the weather is nicer I've been leaving it outside on my back deck..
