G'day all. The avo tree is well into fruiting season and looks decent. Issue is I'm noticing a lot of scaring on ~25% of the fruit. At first thought it might be mechanical due to the wind, but would like a 2nd opinion so I don't lose all the fruit if it isn't. Any thoughts of what it might be if not mechanical damage and what a remedy would be? Tree is in good shape 25 plus years old, pruned every year and new growth coming up now. The leaves have some holes but they have always been like that. A couple of random dead branches coming off, but overall it looks in good health. Also interested in knowing what type of avo this is. We are in Perth West Australia. Thanks for the help Rob
I just saw an article about some new disease on avocados, I think in Hawai'i. I'm sorry I don't remember where I read it - maybe you can track it down, see if it looks similar.
Maybe avocado scab, Sphaceloma perseae? The third picture is similar to Sphaceloma Images @ Insect Images The second picture is more like a sunburn.
