I notice that the APG (Angipsperm Phylogeny Group) has now included Asclepiadaceae with Apocynaceae. I'm wondering how much this change has been accepted. See: http://www.mobot.org/MOBOT/research/APweb/welcome.html
The reasons for the merger appear to be sound; if Asclepiadaceae is excluded from Apocynaceae, then Apocynaceae becomes paraphyletic. It may not yet be widely followed, but it looks like it will be so in the future. The other option would be to chop up Apocynaceae into about 5 new families. We have recently updated our collections database to reflect this change, but if you look at our online collections info, you will notice that it has not yet been updated.
