Pruning: are Areca Palms (large outdoor type) Prunned or do they naturally defoliate. The palms in question were planted as privacy screens
You can pull off the lower fronds once they've died and dried up; they do naturally fall off but it takes a heck of a long time for that to happen if you don't have larger parrots. Other than that, I've never heard of a palm needing to be pruned.
