Are these grapes edible, and how do I take care of them?

My mother just moved to a house in Harpers Ferrry, WV, and in the backyard there are wild raspberries and grapes.

The grapes are overgrown, but on an arbor, which is kind of collapsed, so I'm thinking they were intentional, not wild (There are also wild grapes growing in other places). There is fruit on the plant: the grapes on it are firm and green, and sour to taste. Does anyone know if they're edible?

Also, when should I prune them? I'm guessing late fall, but I don't have experience with grapes. Thanks.

As long as you are certain that they are wild grapes, then, yes, they should be (more or less) edible.

The grapes aren't ready to eat yet. Wait until they are soft and a little sweeter.
Chances are they are a named cultivar that has been neglected. You can prune them late fall or early spring in your area.

This website will give you more info. Take a few pic when they are ready it would be interesting to see waht they look like.

    Cheers
