I have recently planted two new apple trees in my garden. I bought them from a garden centre and am guessing they are too young to fruit this year. They are planted about 8ft apart in exactly the same conditions. One tree has developed browning on the leaves and appears to be withering. The browning is dark and appears to start on the outside of the leaf leaving a green part in the centre. The soil has a clay content and I was advised on which compost to use whwn planting the trees with this in mind. Any ideas what the problem is and what I can do?
I think your tree is stressed. Needing some water? Mulch the top of the roots. Water often. I had fruit from my tree the 1st year. ( of course the squirrels ruined it for me) Just thin out & support your fruit.
