Hi Weedbender, It looks like a Hericium. The thing I find odd though, is that I've only seen that perfect globular shape with commercially grown Hericium: the ones in my region growing wild look a bit more disorganized. On the other hand, I've never seen one at the early stage like this, so perhaps the wild ones do start off looking more even. Anyone know? I was going to ask you if there was any chance someone had sneaky-inoculated one of your logs <grin>. cheers frog
