We have some Magnolia macrophylla seeds from Mississippi. We've read some things but haven't encountered anyone with personal experience. If you have any information, we'd appreciate it! Thanks!
Hi Anneal: I would macerate the seeds by placing them in water for a few days and then try to remove the red outer coat and the pulp. From there you can either plant the seeds if you want or what would be better to improve germination is to stratify the seeds by placing them in a plastic sandwich baggie that has some moist but not overly wet Peat Moss in it. Place the seeds completely encapsulated in the Moss and then place the baggie in the refrigerator (I use the Butter compartment) for about 2-4 months, longer if needed, until you are ready to plant them.
