Identification: Any thoughts on identification

    I'm not sure where this belongs;plant, animal, or fungus. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Well the orange balls certainly look like slime mold spore cases, not sure of the purple underneath.

    Thank you both. Slime mold makes a lot of sense. I shall go on from there. Maybe Leocarpus fragilis or maybe not. So appreciated. :) I just can not get over the beauty in the organization of what ever it is.
