While wandering the El Yunque National Park in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I gleaned four palm seeds from the ground. All four germinated. 3 turned out to be 'gaussia attenuata', but one looked different. It's now just slightly over a year old, and is developing a triangle shaped trunk. I have a 'Triangle Palm' (Dypsis decaryi) that I bought a couple of years ago, and this seedling, is beginning to look like it. Even the color is the same, with spots on the leaf sheaths.

So..................as Triangle Palms are indigenous to Madagascar, and El Yunque is dedicated to the preservation of native species (i.e. attenuata), is this a transplanted alien, or is there another palm similar to the 'Triangle'?

Thanks in advance for any information.
