I grow a lot of these because I love them. My plant is very old, it dates back to the mid-2000's. All of the propagations I have came from this single plant. It tends to make somer very odd leaves every once in a while LOL very morphologically variable
You see, that's why I like aroids right there. Look at the pot:leaf-size ratio! Anytime you can get bigger than a 12" leaf from a 6" pot, that's my kinda plant :)
Let me say, I have over 15 of these. I have sold 1, and traded 3 in all the years I have had it. I just cannot stand to see them leave. They are kind of like MY plant. Out of perhaps 40 anthuriums I grow, this is MY plant. I named the mother plant (pictured) who has produced all these children Marmee Noir. It means Mother Dark, because this particular papi is very old on 'today's' market, and has never been hybridized, tissue cultured or otherwise adulterated, and the leaves really are BLACK.
