There are four bulbs in this large pot. It has been in the greenhouse since February, and the sprouting leaves got frozen off about four times. I keep it from year to year, but sort of ignore it. It is sort of the first blooms in the new year.

Success! They are really fairly tough plants, able to grow outdoors in areas that freeze every year, such as northern Florida. Leu Gardens in Orlando have plants scattered around the grounds.

I should have taken my camera to Leu Gardens in Orlando, Fla., yesterday. The amaryllis beds were in flower.

Congratulations on pulling off the same results in Ontario!

Hey! It takes a lot of effort in Ontario to produce Amaryllis flowers. I would enjoy viewing an outdoor garden of Amaryllis.

Your plants look as happy as the couple of pink ones flowering in my back yard. They grow just about automatically here--the cool, dry winters seem to bring on a bit of dormancy. I think Leu's have proliferated over a period of years. It's a big public garden, but I don't think they've ever had the budget or inclination to buy bulbs in quantity. Duplicating those conditions indoors is truly a big undertaking.
