I was given a kit consisting of a glass container, stones and a large amaryllis bulb to which I had to add a small amount of water but no soil. The plate bloomed beautifully and is now producing leaves. I want to grow it on in soil and wonder how deep in the pot it should be planted? Take it that it should not be overwatered? Should it spend the summer outside? Thanks for any info. Margaret
Growing them outside for the summer is good. The more leaf growth the more energy they can store to make blooms the following year. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=11743&highlight=amaryllis
Many thanks Eric I potted it up yesterday with the top of the bulb just proud of the soil. Fortunately I put it into the garden room because we had a very heavy frost last night. Margaret
