It's time to buy allium bulbs. I would like ones that have a very large diameter in a purple or red colour. What are the names of the largest alliums? I like the ones in Queen Elizabeth park in Vancouver. Does anyone know the name of that one? Thanks. S.
I planted Allium __Gladiator__ and had great success: tall, larger-than-grapefruit purple spheres. Thinking all the purple ones were the same (duh), I did not read the packaging, so next planted __Globemaster__. They are even larger - rather like a child-size basketball on shorter stems. I bought mine in the least expensive manner: bulbs from Costco. I will plant more of whichever one they are selling this year: can't have too many easy, reliable, gorgegous flowers.
