Last year I had two alberta spruce planted by a yard service with a year's guarantee. One of the spruce turned brown and lost most of it's foliage and was replaced this spring. The replacement is beginning to brown. I also found numerous sites with a webbing that I removed with a stick and then sprayed the tree with water.
Are the webs a sign of some type of pest? What insecticide would be helpful?
    Hope someone can advise, thanks.

possibly spider mites. In our area one will see browning in mid to late summer when the humidity drops a bit, the damage is usually seen after the spider mites are already finished because the plant grows so slowly. Using a miticide may be a solution but spraying with water (if you have low humidity) may be enough to reduce the population and therefore the damage.

Thanks for the information. Just this morning I sprayed with water/soap solution after reading a previous post. I then sprayed with clean water. I hope this helps.

avoid using home use intended soaps as they have ingredients designed to strip waxes and oils, things that plant leaves may have on them naturally, which can cause damage. The insecticide soaps for plants do not contain these ingredients.
