Same here -- taking showers with buckets to catch the excess water for maple-watering purposes is certainly a new experience (the things we do for our trees!) As you say, the main thing is for our trees to make it safely to next Spring rather than hoping for any special shows this Autumn, right?
Looks like we are all doing the same Xi. But I do wish these water companies would fix all the leaks...
here is my new maple! What are the good conditions to have a very white "ukigumo"? completely in the shade?
Not for every hours of the day.this maple want two or trhee hours of sun in the morning.or partial shade ...my zone Is USDA 9b
27th April 2023 and the best time of year for Ukigumo, before the Summer heat. Just leafing out today.
Always glad to see this tree show it's coveted goma fu variegation even in my southeastern U.S. location. Check that crazy looking leaf in the second picture.
It’s about normal timing, D. The last few nights have been very cold and maybe that slowed things down, but not by much.
Your specimen has great color D. Mine has much more green than yours as expected in the southeast U.S.
Thanks @GardenCycles I do give it a lot of afternoon shade to keep it protected. It must be difficult where you live with the heat in Summer.
