4th June 2021 and new growth is always pleasing to me, so I thought I would share it.
12th July 2021 and my second flush Sunset leaves are unfurling nicely.
Well I didn't expect to be contributing to this thread but I received a beautiful Sunset in the post yesterday, I didn't order it I ordered Higasayama lol. However after looking at this one yesterday and falling in love with the shape I've decided to keep it.
Now that's a lovely surprise N. I would keep it aswell lol.
Be rude not to really.
Expect someone else opened up your Higasayama yesterday. Are you re ordering?
Yes, I've asked for an invoice for this one and for the Higasayama to be sent as ordered. Just waiting to hear back.
Thats good, hopefully they will have another for you.
Flowers and unfurling leaves
That's it, I must take a photo of mine in the morning. Lol.
15th April 2022 and as promised I was out first thing to take a photo of my Sunset to share.
6th May 2022 and now I have a Sunset with full leaves. Various shades of green at this time of the year.
20th May 2022 and an often overlooked maple, but I think it deserves more notice. Turning towards Summer colours now....
Totally agree D, it's a lovely cultivar that I'm surprised isn't more common.
And the fireball of reds and orange that give it it's name, is wonderful in the Autumn. Perhaps we might see more on the forum in the future N !!?
17th June 2022 and my Sunset at Sunrise.....
10th November 2022 and my Sunset has struggled this year due to the intense heat in the Summer, but important to show how this effects Autumn colours.
Have found over the years that a very hot dry Summer affects the greens and yellows the most in my garden.
3rd August 2023 and my Sunset is very green this year, no scorching to worry about in 2023.
It is beneath my Fagus sylvatica 'Black Swan' that you can just see the leaves of. Gives a nice contrast IMO.
