This is a cultivar I can't find much information about. I am hoping my forum friends can help me out. :)

According to Vertrees, 'Royle' originated as a witches broom on A. p. f. atropurpureum and forms a small rounded ball, eventually reaching 5 feet.

From what I can tell - a few maple outlets may be spelling the name 'Royal' or 'Royale'.

Does anyone have this tree? I would love to know about it and/or see pics.

    THANK YOU!

Its available from Topiary Gardens, who describes it as:

Small irregularly shaped leaves that emerge pinkish orange in the spring changing to a dark maroon leaf with a green overcast. Will have more color if grown in full sun. New growth in the summer is bright red. This contrasts well amongst the older leaves. Originating from a witches' broom in NJ, this maple grows into a rounded ball which will eventually reach 5 ft. Autumn color is brilliant crimson.

Hope that helps. I don't have this one...yet!

correct spelling is 'Royle'. Billy Scwartz who has found/propagated
more than 20 witches brooms named this 1 after the maiden name of
his English-born wife Jacqui. I have not had mine long enough, spookie,
to add to the above descriptions but I love the contrast of the bright
new smaller leaves with the older red leaves on witches brooms.
