    Hi All,

I just got scions in for this one. Don't know anything about it. Does anyone have it? I'm curious about what characteristics distinguish it (other than the fruity and colorful name). I didn't see it in the cultivar photo forum.

It is listed without any description in Append D of Vertrees.

    Brian,

I know of someone with a stock plant of the maple, but I have never seen him graft it or offer grafts of it. I suspect it is similar to the situation surrounding green disectums--he usually doesn't offer things that aren't in demand or are too similar to established plants.

When I am there in the spring, I will see what it looks like and if it is available for photographs.

  3. Hi MJH,

I suspect that it is a typical green palmatum with nice yellow/orange fall color (but don't all palmatums do that?). There are more than a few cultivars that I have in-house which I do not graft or recommend to customers or friends, because they don't distinguish themselves from others in the market. I wish people were a bit more selective when deciding to place names on things.
