23rd November 2020 and the dreamy orange of this cultivar now comes to the fore. This is why it has this name.

Because it's still very young and slender, it needs to get some more girth, amore "conical" trunk to look like a venerable tree. Like me, a wider waist if you like, huh huh..

I really struggle with my Orange Dream. I had him in the most shaded, protected spot I could find last year and he shrivelled up and dropped all his leaves. Moved him to a sunnier spot in early spring - the lower leaves loved it; the taller branches became scabby and wind-bitten. Lost my patience and decided I was going to inflict some tough love: moved him to a more exposed spot about a month ago.... and he loves it! New foliage emerging from the top branches that were bare before:

Hmmm, you might find when it gets to those hot sunny days that we might get this Summer, it is a bit too much for Orange Dream Xi.

I do like your optimism that we're going to get any hot days this summer, D, given the way things have been going so far! ;) I will gladly sacrifice my Orange Dream for a bit of warmth this year!

I love my Orange dream this spring, much more orange colours than in previous springs. It has suffered a bit from the spring frosts but has recovered nicely.

Back to being slightly miffed with mine and considering swapping it out with one of my prettier performers and moving this one to a less visible spot. We'll see:
