Disappointed with my specimen this year, I'm down to one leaf unfortunately, still it seems healthy enough so there's always next.
Going to be a sparce Autumnal display this year. We could all do with some happy colours to cheer us all up. Hope you don't have too many casualties. I've had a few already, but it is to be expected with these extremes. Thankfully it's raining here as I type, so they are getting a drink at last. Your Mila should be OK looking at the branches and little swellings of new buds for 2023.
Ouch! That doesn't look too good... Are the buds green above ? When you scratch the leafless branches with your fingernail, is there any green ? If not, I'd prune the rest of the tree above the single leaf. If there is some green, I would trim it back a little though, so more sap can benefit to the fewer buds left. And use a mild fungicide, just in case. Just my 2€ cents....
It all appears to be fine, it's just lost it's leaves early that's all, I think it'll be fine next year.
Mila today, didn't realise I hadn't updated the thread for nearly a year, it didn't go so well last year, losing most of it'leaves by the start of autumn, funnily it's my first acer to leaf out fully this time but hopefully itll last later into the year.
25th April 2024 and more muted colours on my Mila. But it's just turning, and needs some more sunshine and warmth to bring out the lovely reds.
Mila from today 25/04/24 really cold and dull in the North at present, but this one was the first of all my maples to break out and straight into it's lovely red colouring , and it just seems to like it's new spot on my top patio. Growing on me is this one!!
