The remarkable features on this cultivar are the white/pale-very pale green scales which retain their color as the leaves unfurl, making an extreme contrast to the dark green/bronze leaves. An outstanding and overlooked cultivar. This photo was taken 4/13/07 in the Siskiyou mountain area.

This is the same plant, photo taken April 29, 2007. It's turning bronze/green and the bud scales have faded. The tree has a mounding habit and this one lives in filtered sunlight.

Gorgeous yellow in the fall. I recommend this cultivar because of its beauty throughout the growing period.
