Like Cascade Gold, Cascade Citrine, and Cascade Emerald, this is another hybrid between Orange Dream and Ryusen, with the latter's strong weeping habit and - if the name is anything to go by - some interesting red colour to boot. Here's mine five minutes out of the box in mid-June, which was a big surprise: I did not expect this shade of red so close to summer! Let's see what it does as the year progresses!
Mine arrived this morning, not as red as Xi's but I'm not disappointed, hopefully it'll live next to the bench, see how it goes.
24th June 2022 and my first posting on this thread of my new Cascade Ruby. Going to take a few years to fill out, but I'm looking forward to watching how this one turns out.
My fella has lost some of that amazing rose-pink it came out of the box with, now turning to a more brick red with green undertones in the shaded branches. Lots of foliage-pics:
This guy seems to have settled into this pretty green/red mix -- I was wondering if the green was going to wholly take over for the summer, but it seems not!
Mine seems to have gone rather green, which is fine, it's just telling me my chosen spot isn't getting enough sun.
It looks very healthy - no crispy leaves in sight! Mine is getting direct morning sun to around noon, then some filtered light (through an acrylic rain awning) for another hour or so before it's plunged into shade. Seems to be working well for it so far, touch wood!
Agree with Xi, very healthy N. But think about positioning for next year to get more of the ruby reds. Mine is quite green as well, with just a hint of red. All new, so let's see how the next couple of years pans out with this one.
That red is still hanging in there, peppered with some healthy greens as well. It's a pretty little thing, I'm really very happy with it!
Hello everyone, not been on here for a while. Here's my CR today, showing some lovely colours, really hope I can get it to mature.
Loving my CR, it seems healthy enough, just wondering if it need more direct light though as it's very green?
Mines getting a lot of sun N, and has the more ruby colours, but not what I would call Ruby.... Yours is looking super healthy BTW.
1st November 2023 and I didn't know if I would get a good show this Autumn, as my Cascade Ruby struggled in the Summer. But all is well.
