Very pretty, thanks Alex. What is the date of the picture? I see 2010, but month would be nice to know. As I post this it is end of January, I wonder if obtusifolium is evergreen for you in Rome?

    Thanks in advance,

Usually evergreen in Seattle. The 2002 Hillier manual calls it "Very hardy".

Have just received one, a fine looking plant. Very root bound in the pot though, took quite a lot of repotting.

How about exposition, I assume it should do well with full sun?

    How about wind?

BTW Bean also lists it as "quite hardy" under A. syriacum.

I confirm what Alex says. Over here is in morning shade and receives full afternoon (hot) sun. Also takes drought quite well (not surprising knowing its Mediterranean origins)
