Acer circinatum pacific fire

Discussion in 'Maples' started by Unregistered, Dec 14, 2005.

  1. I live in Redmond, WA. Not a gardener... Recently I decided to replace my overgrown cider trees for Acer Circinatum Pacific Fire. I don't know any details on how far should I plant this from each other or the fence, what soil do they prefer, any special fertilizer, etc. If somebody can volunteer any specific info, I will be very grateful.
    Thank you.
    Have Great Holidays!

Yellowleaf form apt to scorch and defoliate in hot sun. Not as vigorous as typical plant, either. More of a pet than a landscaping staple.

Precisely why I have been hesitant to have it. We are
too warm down here for most any circinatum. They
do not do well here. We've warned people about what
not to do with them and they lose their plants in the
near term they brought in and then wonder why.

Just an excellent point. I wish more people in Maples
and other specialty plants would realize this. Many
of our Japanese Maple cultivars are not meant to be
standard landscape plants but are better suited as
    being pet container plants instead.
