Section acer, Series saccharodendron Closely related to the Sugar maple and all other maples in the sugar maple complex. Jalisco Maple Split off from Acer skutchii a few million years ago. Its a very tall tree that thrives in oceanic climates, native to Southwestern Mexico, occuring most frequently near the town of Talpa De allende and another population in Autlan de Navarro.
