Kinda quiet here lately, so I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of summer grafts.

First 'Villa Taranto' from summer 09

Second shirasawanum 'Microphyllum' chip bud grafted summer 08, grew about 1 cm in 09. Looking stronger this year.

My 'take' rate isn't great, but it is fun to see the successes leaf out. I brought some inside for an early spring in Iowa.

Very nice little things, thanks for posting.

But I find the level of the soil is very low : wouldn't it help to lift the rootball and add some more culture mix with more nuttrients in it ? I have a feeling tjhis might help them to thrive on...

Nice! Helps chase away the cabin fever to see these little things come to life.

My summer grafting had a dismal success rate, by the way :(

I don't think the angle gives a good idea of pot size. The total depth is 20 cm. The soil depth is 16 cm or so

I like a little head room, so I don't spill so much dirt in the house.

Thanks all for nice comments. Next year there will be a lot more brought in in stages to fill the winter void. A horribly drab winter for us in IA.

    Now, I understand ! ;°D

I'm reassured, they're safe, it would have been a pity to lose them...
