The cost was $40.00 or 0.67 cents per pound. They were placed in bushel baskets with three bananas buried in each to produce ethylene gas which will facilitate ripening in 3 to 5 days. After ripening the fruit will be processed into juice.
Doing a bit of reading, it came our that ethylene is heavier than air, so I placed the three bananas, producing the ethylene, on top of the pears in the basket. This should distribute the ethylene more equitably. Will know the result in three or four days.
