9 August 2018 Indian Corn Posted on August 9, 2018 by Durgan 9 August 2018 Indian Corn9 August 2018 Indian Corn The small patch of Indian Corn is 12 feet tall. This is excessive and probably indicates too much nitrogen. There are cobs forming so will determine at harvest if the height is detrimental to grain production. The stalks are healthy and good color.
I remember the line from the Broadway show "Oklahoma" - "the corn is as high as an elephant's eye", wondering all the while about the corn we see on the west coast that seems to be not much more than a meter. It's nice to be reminded that some corn really does grow that tall.
