Hello! Thank you so much for your help with the problems below. I have 3 plants. There are pictures of them in the attached website address. Plants 1 and 2 were a gift from people who had to move, but the plants were roughed up along the way. Plant 1 -- doing okay, some leaves going yellow. Plant 2 -- leaves are dropping off onto the floor. Top of soil always seems really dry, but don't want to over water as there appears to be no drainage at the bottom of the pot. Plant 3 -- It was moved 8 months ago from a different house. It was left outside in the direct sun for many hours, then the rain came. I've tried to rescue it, as it used to have 5 of the huge branches like the single one you see in the picture. I cut those off as they all went brown, now it's just the one. The end of every leaf has brown/dead tips. Any idea why that is? (can I get a tip on tips please? hehehe) For each of the 3 plants, I need to know what they are so I can look up their treatment on the internet. If you could help, that would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advice from experienced gardeners about watering, sunlight, etc, would also be very helpful. Thank you!!! Matt Plant Pictures 1, 2, and 3
Plant number one is a dracaena marginata it is quite normal for the lower leaves to yellow as they age! http://www.amherstgreenhouses.com/photo/tropical/dracaena.jpg Plant number two is a pachira better know as a money tree http://www.nanbouen.co.jp/image2/gr_pachira.jpg plant number three looks like a young majestic palm it like lots of light and the brown tips are most commonly caused by underwatering! This plant is a bit tricky when not grown in a tropical climate! http://www.falconfloral.com/treep4b.htm hope that is of some help!
