Updated details on this weekend's event: "Come celebrate springtime, morels, and other mushrooms with the South Sound Mushroom club! Join us from 10 AM to 4 PM for the 2nd annual Spring Mushroom Festival. General admission is FREE. Parking is FREE but limited to a small parking lot and street parking. We encourage carpooling! Featuring: Mushroom ID Station - with chief mycologist, Lauren Ré and volunteer Evergreen Mycology students. Bring your recent mushroom finds to be identified by experts. We have a grant to have ten specimens DNA sequenced! Kid Zone - Fun educational mushroom arts and crafts and playtime. Guest Speakers: Morels 101 - Kati Thompson Wondering how to dive into the elusive world of morels? This presentation will cover how to tell apart true morels from false morels and where to get started on your quest to find some. Spring Fungi of the Pacific Northwest - Lauren Ré Curious about all the mushrooms you see popping up along trail sides and in your neighborhood? This presentation will cover the identification, ecology, and evolutionary relationships of some of our most iconic springtime fungi. Fungal Phenology: Seeing the Seasons Through Fungi -Jack Johnson Ever notice how many mushrooms fruit during specific seasons? Our presenter will cover factors that affect the timing of the mushroom seasons as well as the relationship with climate. Guest Chef: Graham Steinruck Cooking classes are a special ticketed event.
