A "vicious" winter featuring perhaps multiple episodes of high winds, deep snows and frigid cold is expected this time. I've heard comparisons have been made to the still-notorious 1955-56 season, when it went from summer to winter in one night, followed by record-setting cold. All the factors leading up to a hard one are present. In 1955 the worst came in November.
What are the "factors" that you mention? Have there been years with the same factora and non-severe winter here?
