I hope your not appall-y, but an unknown plant has popped up in a large dry area under a aged mighty conifer in my garden, and it is growing faster than the hair on Cousin Itt. It is located in almost complete shade, and, in about 4-5 weeks, it's spread to cover an area about 3 meters by 1.5 meters. It's not a vine, just a stalk about 22-30 cm high with alternating green leaves. No flowers to date. I've worn gloves to pull unwanted volunteers, but have left most of them in place as they are making something of a backdrop to some polemonium and henna coleus I have nearby. It seems benign, but I am curious. Anyone wish to hazard a guess as to what is this "Thing"? (image attached below)
