I live in the northeast, just north of philadelphia, and while driving on some wooded roads i came across some large green seed pods. i would estimate the diameter at about 5 inches. They are a light/pale green color and have folds/bumps that my wife calls brain like. Does anyone know what tree this came from? I do have a photo that i will try to post later if needed. Thanks

It sounds like you found a black walnut seed. This tree is very common in this area, I live 40 miles NW of Philadelphia
